Getting Started with Installation

This section explain how install and run the different modules of iPDC suite. The first thing you will need to do is download the latest version of iPDC and extract it.
  • Go to the iPDC Home Page and from there click the downloads link.
  • Else go to DOWNLOADS tab then under "Recommended Download", click on the link labeled "iPDC-vX.Y.Z".
  • Click "I Agree" to proceed.
  • Download and extract the iPDC-vX.Y.Z.tar.gz to a directory of your choice.
Once you have extracted the downloaded file, you can install the following programs/modules by simply running their Makefile.

iPDC-x.y Makefile The Phasor Data Concentrator compliant with IEEEC37.118 synchrophasor standard
DBServer-x.y Makefile The iPDC Database which is used to store the data in MySQL database
PMUSimulator-x.y Makefile IEEEC37.118 based PMU Simulator which simulates the Phasor Measurement Unit
  • Install iPDC - Multiple instances of iPDC can be run simultaneously by only single installation of iPDC.
    • Extract iPDC.x.y.z.tar.gz
    • cd iPDC.x.y.z/iPDC.x.y
    • su/sudo make install (It will need root permission)
    • iPDC (to run)
  • Install DBServer - DBServer can be installed on the same machine or on a remotely connected machine.
    • Extract iPDC.x.y.z.tar.gz
    • cd iPDC.x.y.z/DBServer.x.y
    • mysql -uroot -p <"Db.sql"
    • su/sudo make install (It will need root permission)
    • DBServer (to run)
Script Db.sql initially have the database root's password as root and database name is openPDC, but if you can change this too. After changing the root password and database name you have to do the reflection in some of the DBServer programming files.

  • Install PMUSimulator - Multiple instances of PMUSimulator can be run simultaneously by only single installation of PMUSimulator.
    • Extract iPDC.x.y.z.tar.gz
    • cd iPDC.x.y.z/PMUSimulator.x.y
    • su/sudo make install (It will need root permission)
    • PMU (to run)

  • For uninstallation of programs/components of the iPDC-x.y.z, follow the same steps as we did for installation except instead of command su/sudo make install run su/sudo make uninstall command.
